Canine Recruit
As a Canine Recruit, you and your dog will be at the start of your scent detection journey. we will introduce you to gun oil as an odour to search for, and condition an indication on. we will condition a 'passive' indication which means that the New Recruit will learn to Freeze, sit or down when they find the odour. your Journey will start indoors and mainly working on linear Kit, with an introduction to how to search a room. Once the new recruit is consistently hitting their targets a promotion will be in order.
Canine Constable
After your promotion you will become a Canine Constable, now we will be looking to progress you and your dog as a team, we will continue to work with Gun Oil as our target odour, we will start to add in decoys to our searches, you will be introduced to searches in the outside world with more distractions. we will teach you and your Canine Constable how to search a vehicle, a route and and outdoor area, successfully. this is where the team work really starts.
Canine Sargent
As A Sargent it is about building the team work developing the team bond and progressing looking at the finer details, As a team starting to have confidence in your finds, the Canine Sargent not checking in with you to ensure they have it right and as the handler you trusting your dog in the success of their find. search areas will be getting bigger with more decoys,
Canine Inspector
After your promotion you will become a Canine Inspector, now we will be looking to progress you and your dog as a team, we will continue to work with Gun Oil as our target odour as well as introducing a new Target Odour.
This is where we will start to see growth, searching for longer with more distractions.
Canine Chief Inspector
As A Chief Inspector we will see a 3rd Odour introduced, the searches will get bigger again with some exercises being off lead. (can be on long lines if recall concerns as not an obedience class). searches could now be anywhere and hold quite a lot of distraction.
Canine Commissioner
Your Promotion to commissioner, means that we will now be working off lead, looking team work, high levels of distractions, multiple scents and large areas to work.
Classes
Welcome to Ceri's Canine Companions! Here, we take a unique approach to scent detection training with your dog. Forget about rigid block; our flexible class schedule allows you to dip in and out as needed, so you can enjoy your holidays without any worries. Join us for a fun and engaging experience that strengthens the bond you and your furry friend!
Sleuthing Hounds Scent Work Club
If you have prior experience of Scent Detection or have been to classes with me we welcome you to join us on location with Sleuthing Hounds Scent Detection Club.
The venue for these sessions will vary as we start to build generalisation into our dogs searching abilities. Some may be indoor some maybe out door, but we will always be building on what our dogs already know.
On special occasions we may even look at having a fun themed trial.
Club will cost £22.50 for the 2 hour session
